Name, address, city, state, zip and Country: These are pretty self explanatory.

E-Mail: This is an important one.  We use it to keep you informed of acceptance of your application, any changes in your home stay family, etc.  It is also a very convenient and quick form of correspondence.  You can expect a quick reply to any e-mail you send.

Age: We use this for compatibility reasons in selecting families

Sex: We use this for compatibility reasons in selecting families also.

Marital Status: We use this for compatibility reasons in selecting families also.

Name of Course: Tell us if you want the Standard Course (4 hours per day) Intensive Course (6 hours per day), Spanish Teachers Course, or Professional Course.

Length of Course: How many weeks do you wish to attend.

Course Start Date: The day you actually will start taking classes.  We start new classes every Monday, so in most cases it will be the date of the Monday you will start.  If you cannot arrange to start on a Monday, we can work with you on your schedule to make up classes.

Home Stay Start Date: This is the date that you will start staying with your host Costa Rican family.  Home stays usually start on the Sunday before your first class.  If you arrive early and require extra home stay days, this is usually no problem if we have notice.  The only result is that there is an additional cost of $20 per day for each additional day.  Home stays run from Sunday before your first class until the Saturday following your last class.  You must make arrangements with the school if you intend on staying at your home stay after you have finished taking classes.

How many days before Sunday? This lets us notify the host family that your home stay will start early.  If for example your arrive on Friday, there is a charge of $40 for the two extra home stay days.  Some students prefer this so they can take advantage of the weekend trip that first weekend.

How many days after Saturday? Since home stays usually end on the Saturday after your last class, any extra home stay days required will cost $20 per day.  Many students have make flight arrangements so that they leave after the weekend to take advantage of our weekend trips. This lets us notify the host family that your home stay will last a few days more.  If for example your flight leaves on a Monday, there would be a charge of $40 for the two extra home stay days.  Some students prefer this so they can take advantage of the weekend trip that last weekend.

Will you require transcripts or a grade? This is for students who’s host institution requires transcripts or grades.  If you want transcripts sent to your home institution, you must furnish the mailing address.  Official transcripts will be stamped with IPEE official seal and sent directly to the address you furnish.  The transcripts will include the number of classroom hours, your grade, level, course and dates.  If you request  transcripts after you have left IPEE, there is a charge of $15.00

From where did you learn of IPEE? This is for our information.  It helps us track where our students come from, the most beneficial forms of advertising, etc.

Date of Arrival: The date your plane will land in Costa Rica.

Flight Number: The name of your airline and the flight number.  This helps us track your flight.  It gives us information so we can check the airport to see if your flight is on time.  This is very important!  Our airport pick up service depends on this to be there when you arrive.

Flight time: The time your flight is scheduled to land in Costa Rica.

Last Airport before landing in Costa Rica? This would be the last place your plane was on the ground before arriving in Costa Rica.  This helps us track flights, delays, etc.

Do you have any physical disabilities? This helps us determine the  proper home stay environment, and alerts us to any special needs you may have.

Are you a vegetarian? This helps our host families prepare in advance for your arrival.

Special dietary needs? This helps our host families prepare in advance for your arrival.

Do you have any preferences of your host family or any special requirements? In this space you would write things such as, no smoking, I like small children, I wish to share a home stay with another student if possible, etc.

Approximate language level: This helps us with placement with host families.  All students will receive an interview and your level will be determined by our Education Administrator on the first day of class.
